That they may know from the rising of the sun, and from the west, that there is none beside me. I am the LORD, and there is none else. — Isaiah 45:6

Events in our world have people constantly looking for someone to take charge in a situation. It leads to a constant struggle of power and it has since nearly the beginning of time. Wars are started, people have conflict between them at home, at work, and in their communities, many times because of a power struggle where there is a search for someone to lead.

Conflict is going to happen, but the conflict should not be a power struggle among men. In fact, that should be the last thing that we struggle with. That is, if we had things in our lives in the right perspective and priority.

Time after time, Scripture teaches the fact that God is the I am God. In other words, He is ever-present. He often reminds us of the many powerful and mighty things He has done in the past. He reminded the children of Israel that He was the God who parted the sea. Another passage reminds us that He is God that created the world for us to live in.

Yet, throughout history, people have attempted to elevate themselves to a ruling level that would take the place of God. God is very clear, He is first. There is no one else that is ultimately in charge besides Him. He wants to be in His place as first in our lives and in control of our hearts.

While people around the world may struggle to give up control now, Scripture tells us that one day, every knee shall bow and submit to God. Rather than struggling for power and control, we must focus on putting God in His place as the Lord of all the situations of our lives. He is the Lord and will not settle for second place.
