This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh. — Galatians 5:16

One of the greatest temptations we face in this world are the influences around us. Those influences can be from so many different places that it is challenging to handle the pressure.

We have politicians that want to tell us how to live our lives and how to practice our faith. Our family and friends can try to influence us in the way that they think it is best for us to live. Even those in our communities may try to influence us to their way of thinking, even if we do not agree with it.

If we simply focus on those influences, we are sure to be drawn into the lust of our flesh, or sin. Even if we are doing things the right way, it is so easy to be drawn into those influences as well.

So what’s the solution? Galatians tells us that it is to “walk in the Spirit.” In other words, to live our lives under the influence of the Holy Spirit. The concept is that we fully surrender our lives to the influence of the Holy Spirit. If we do that, we are able to resist the influences around us that want to draw us into sin.

As you continue to hear the influences and noise from those who wish to draw you into the ideas of the world, do not forget the words of Galatians 5:16. The only way to resist those influences are to walk in the Spirit.
