Hope beyond the trouble of this world

There may be trouble all around our world today, but we can rest assured because our hope is in God!

Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted within me? hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him, who is the health of my countenance, and my God. – Psalm 42:11

If you simply read the verse above, it may sound quite confusing. The Psalmist is asking why his soul is cast down and perplexed. The writer had just finished explaining that grief and fear were all around. It was explained that the enemy was constantly approaching mocking about where is God.

That is something we can certainly relate with. All around our world is fear and grief. We see agendas surround us that are anti-God and anti-faith, and it seems that our enemy is twisting a sword into our bones just as the Psalmist describes here. For those looking at us, they very well may look at us and say “where is thy God?”

But we can rest assured just like the Psalmist here and have hope. Because our hope is not in this world, but it is in God. So why should our soul be perplexed when our hope is in God. Even with all the trouble all around us, and the enemy who continues to fight against us, we can praise our God because our hope is in Him.
